Introducing: Branching Out, New Dynamic, Community Events Hosted by Trellis Legal

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

Branching Out Events

We say it all the time. There isn’t anything quite as energetic, imaginative, or unique as the Pittsburgh business community. Obviously, as a Pittsburgh-based small business and non-profit lawyers, we’re biased. But we believe it really is something worth celebrating.

So often, we work with our rockstar clients and wish they knew each other within their industry, especially those just getting started, and we had the opportunity to engage with our clients in a less formal/workshop setting. This is the thinking behind our newest brainchild, Branching Out, a series of industry-specific community events with some legal discussion, answers to your questions, and networking opportunities within each business area.

Here’s How It Works

We’ll host different events for specific industries as an opportunity to meet others doing exciting things in the same space. Each event will comprise of light legal discussion relevant to a specific industry, including a little Q&A on important timely issues, and some general, much-deserved hang time.

Perhaps you’re a graphic designer interested in meeting other creatives and learning about protecting your intellectual property. Maybe you own a fitness studio and want to collaborate on collectively elevating Pittsburgh’s health. Maybe you’re a new non-profit thinking about the fiscal sponsorship route or curious about when other organizations decided to get their 501(c)(3) status. There are so many ideas worth sharing, and creative ways we can help each other thrive.

Our First Event

The first Branching Out event will be food industry-focused and will be held on August 29th from 6-7:30pm at Black Radish Kitchen. At this month’s Branching Out, we’ll discuss the new Pennsylvania tipping rules that went into effect this month (read more on our blog post here) and any other restaurant-related legal issues you may have like leases, food safety, health code rules, etc. and give everyone a chance to connect, relax, and support each other. You can register here! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/branching-out-food-businesses-tickets-387576741467

Event is $5 with funds going to Just Harvest (it's also fun to use community to raise $ for the community!)

We have our free resources, blog posts, and more but we wanted to actually be out in, and creating, a community. Branching Out will not be about independent legal advice, but more so chatting about some information and also allowing people within each industry to talk and create community. Branching out, growing, thriving.

As always, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, or if you’d like an upcoming Branching Out event to feature your industry.
